Silly Symphony Swings is a wave swinger attraction currently operating at Disney's California Adventure. It opened on May 28, 2010, as part of the California Adventure expansion. The ride currently operates where Orange Stinger once did. The attraction is themed off the Disney short "The Band Concert".
History
As part of California Adventure's $1 billion expansion, the park announced their Orange Stinger attraction would be closed and go into retheming as Silly Symphony Swings. The ride closed on July 13, 2009, and Silly Symphony Swings was under construction for 10 months, until its official opening on May 28, 2010.
Synopsis
As shown in the short itself, the band concert turns into a fiasco (sheet music flying everywhere, wrong notes, etc.). Riders board their one or two person tandems and are lifted 40 feet above the Paradise Bay, now home to World of Color. The tandems circle the main tower, decorated with bits of the short, as the song, "William Tell Overture", plays behind them. Finally, after circling for 1:30, the tandems lower back to the ground.
Trivia
- The ride plays the song, William Tell Overture by Gioachino Rossini. The former attraction, Orange Stinger, played the same song during the ride.
