Orange Stinger was a Zamperla wave swinger attraction. It was located in the Paradise Pier section of Disney California Adventure. The ride closed as part of the park's billion-dollar expansion on July 13, 2009.

Ride history

Originally, Orange Stinger was one of the opening day rides for California Adventure. It soft opened on December 15, 2000, and publicly opened on February 8, 2001. The ride took place in a gigantic orange with an effect to make it look peeled. On July 13, 2009, as part of the park's expansion, Orange Stinger closed to go into retheming into Silly Symphony Swings.

Ride synopsis

Guests enter their one or two-person seats. The seats are lifted 40 feet above Paradise Bay and circle the main tower for a minute and a half, while the song "William Tell Overture" plays. Eventually, the seats continue to twirl as the tower lowers back to the ground.

  • The ride serves as a memorial to the orange fields that became the neighboring Disneyland Park
  • Originally, the ride has bumblebee seats that riders would use. Two days after California Adventure's opening, on February 10, 2001, the seats were dismantled and replaced.
  • Formerly, the ride was given a fake orange scent to bring in the smell of a real orange, but was soon removed because it attracted real bees.
