Adventureland is one of Disneyland Park's eight individual lands. When Disneyland Park opened in 1955, Adventureland opened as more of a Polynesian- South Seas themed area. The only ride present in Adventureland when the park opened was the Jungle Cruise, formerly known as the Jungle River Cruise. Today, it still maintains some of its South-Seas, Jungle, and Polynesian theme, but in the 1990's, the Indiana Jones Adventure: The Temple of the Forbidden Eye and Aladdin's Oasis were both added, making it partly a 1930's adventure outpost, and slightly Middle-Eastern as well. Even though Pirates of the Caribbean appears in Adventureland at all of the other Disney Magic-Kingdom style parks (including the international ones), it does not appear in Adventureland at Disneyland Park, and instead is adjacent to it in New Orleans Square.
