Radiator Springs Racers is an attraction at Disney California Adventure in Anaheim, California. The ride is part of Cars Land, a park section that opened at California Adventure on June 15, 2012, along with another section known as Buena Vista Street. At an overall cost of $200 million, it is one of the most expensive projects by Walt Disney Imagineering. The ride uses the same technology as Test Track, a similar ride at Epcot in Florida.
History[]
The attraction, along with the rest of California Adventure's big expansion, was announced on October 17, 2007. By 2009, construction on Cars Land and the attraction had already been started, taking two and a half years to complete. Ride testing officially began in the early months of 2012 with soft openings beginning in mid-spring. On March 7, 2012, California Adventure officially announced that Radiator Springs Racers would open with Cars Land and Buena Vista Street on June 15, 2012. Opening day wait times soared up to 240 minutes (4 hours) and stretched all the way to Pacific Wharf and back. The ride broke down several times, and Fastpasses are equipped with this attraction and run out within two hours.
Attraction summary[]
First, you get into your car and you drive through a tunnel with an overlook of the waterfall where Lightning McQueen raced under with Sally in the movie. Then, you go inside the rock formations and run into Mack, Lightning McQueen's pit truck & Minny and Van who are the lost couple that needs directions while you swerve to the side to see them. They ran through Radiator Springs stranded. Next, you run into Sheriff, for speeding. Next, you encounter Mater, who takes you tractor tipping, but when Frank the combine gets steamed up, you rev up into town, where Lightning McQueen and Sally prepare you by giving you a quick paint refresh at Ramone's Paint Shop or a quick tire change at Luigi's Casa Della Tires. After that, you meet Doc Hudson in the adjacent building, and Luigi's signals go while his partner, Guido holds the signs in his forklifts while wearing the Italian afro wig on his head, along with his pit crew. You speed up and take a nice cruise through Radiator Springs, and finish with randomized racing results and a photo finish back into the station.
