Cars Land is part of the $1 billion expansion project of the Disney California Adventure at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California. This land is 12-acres and is located in what was the former Timon Parking Lot, and includes a full-scale recreation of Radiator Springs, the fictional town on Route 66 from the 2006 popular Disney/Pixar animated film Cars. Attractions include one major $200 million dollar E-ticket thrill ride, Radiator Springs Racers, a two-track racing attraction based on Epcot's Test Track technology. Waterfalls, banked turns, and a racing duel is included, as well as dark ride elements with audio-animatronics characters and special effects. Cars Land also features two smaller rides, Mater's Junkyard Jamboree and Luigi's Flying Tires, the latter being inspired by Disneyland's former Flying Saucers attraction.
There is food service at Sally's Cozy Cone Motel, Flo's V8 Cafe, and Fillmore's Taste-In. Guests are able to shop at Sarge's Surplus Hut, Radiator Springs Curios (run by Lizzie), and Ramone's House of Body Art.
Cars Land officially opened on June 15, 2012.
Setting
The attractions of Cars Land are supposedly set in-between the two Cars films, as to allow for the involvement of Doc Hudson in Radiator Springs Racers as well as the original film's decoration for Lightning McQueen. However, there are some subtle references to the events of Cars 2 throughout the land, such as a billboard (seen when entering from A Bug's Land) referring to Mater as "Sir", a signed photo of Finn McMissile with Luigi and Guido inside Luigi's Casa Della Tires, and Lightning McQueen in his World Grand Prix customization. The various attractions and restaurants themselves fleshes-out characters in the film, with the queue for Radiator Springs Racers taking guests through the original settlement where Stanley initially established the town.
