Buena Vista Street is a themed land in Disney's California Adventure park replacing "Sunshine Plaza". The section of the park opened on June 15, 2012 as well as the World of Color Brave segment, and Cars Land, all part of the 2009 expansion project. Buena Vista Street is themed after the 1920's era when Walt Disney first moved to Los Angeles.

Design

The Buena Vista Street section of the park begins with the entrance to the Pan-Pacific Auditorium, which caught on fire and replaces the original California letters around the entrance. Also, the sunburst was removed for construction of a replica of the Carthay Circle Theatre, the theatre in which Walt Disney's first animated movie, "Snow White", premiered. The Golden Gate Bridge replica has been removed and will not be replaced by anything. The California Zephyr train has been donated to a railroad museum, as well as all of its shops.

Construction

Construction officially began on Buena Vista Street in October 2010, as Sunshine Plaza was closed down. Meanwhile, the construction on The Red Car Trolley began earlier that year, on January 10, 2010. The park section is planned to open as part of Disney's California Adventure's $1 billion expansion project on June 15, 2012. The Sunshine Plaza section of the park was closed with character barriers, as the front entrance until construction was completed was The Golden State.
